Michigan is in trouble again. They have a really talented football team and, as far as I can tell, don’t need to cheat to win but that hasn’t stopped them from trying. I don’t know what, if anything, will actually come of it. Michigan doesn’t want to punish itself, the Big Ten doesn’t want to exclude one of their teams from playoff contention and the NCAA is concerned that schools will soon stop accepting their authority. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Anything that happens won’t happen until after the season and the current Wolverine squad has an opportunity to compete for a championship. Does anything after that really matter to Michigan and their fanbase? Is there anything more maddening in all of sports than seeing your football team run the ball effectively and then abandon the run en route to a loss? I don’t know how many Tar Heel fans were yelling for UNC to run the ball against Virginia, but I know of at least one. Carolina’s offensive coordinator supposedly showed up to his interview for the job wearing a hat that said “run the dang ball.” The hat didn’t actually say dang, but I’m trying to keep this family friendly. I can’t say for certain if he actually wore the hat to meet Mack Brown, but I certainly hope he wears it the rest of the season. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> The NBA tipped off their season and after night one, I emerged with two observations worth sharing. Within seconds of the jump ball, the league’s oldest player jumped out of bounds and onto a media table while successfully saving the ball. In his 21st season, LeBron James is still plenty athletic. My second observation is that I am too old to stay up and watch the late game on the west coast. Phoenix and Golden State faced off in a matchup that featured Kevin Durant against his old Warriors squad now, including Chris Paul. I’m certain it was entertaining to watch, and it appears the Suns held off the Warriors but I only know from seeing highlights the next morning.
