Orr column: Granny Smiths best for baking apple tart

Working in the prison was her most personally rewarding employment. It...

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they are from God because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” — 1 John 4:1 John the Apostle walked with, talked to, and touched Jesus. He had a keen insight into right and wrong, light and darkness, God and Satan. So, who better than this John to advise us? Some people believe everything...
Hoggard column: God offers us grace that's greater than world's sins
What is the cost of discipleship? Jesus generously sees us, calls us, serves and builds us, dies in our place, then sends us to fulfill His mission. Along the way, our lives change dramatically. To be like Jesus is to recognize a few inconvenient things. The more we look to Jesus, the more things of this world become unsatisfying. The appetites we once craved become distractions to where true joy and peace reside. ...

Finding it hard to care about MLB
The Major League Baseball playoffs began. Do you care? I am told Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Houston and Baltimore are quite good. I had to double check and, yes, it seems the Orioles really have played well this season. If you live in one of those cities or in New York, Boston, Chicago or even Miami, you might care about baseball because you have a team in your backyard. ...
Hartman column: Don't settle for average; Jesus has called you to do more

He handed out more C grades than any other professor. He was in every way the Simon Cowell of our art department, and that’s...
