The Wolves managed only three hits while visiting Hill City-Northland had six, but it was the 14 free bases that allowed the Storm to win 14-0 in five innings Thursday night in Walker.

Alexis Gardner and Jasmyn German had back-to-back singles in the third, which was Walker-Hackensack-Akeley’s best chance of scoring. But a strike out and a fielder’s choice cut the lead runner down at third to end the inning.

The Wolves also stranded a runner in scoring position in the fourth as Ava Welk led off with a double.

Franchessca McGregor pitched the first two innings and allowed seven runs on two hits with 12 free bases. Gretchen Turney pitched the final three frames and allowed seven runs on four hit and eight free bases.

    S. Peterson did not allow a free base and struck out six.

WHA’s home game with Sebeka that was canceled has been rescheduled for May 13.

The 1-2 Wolves are at Kelliher-Northome and Laporte, and host Bertha-Hewitt this week. Next week they host Blackduck and Cass Lake-Bena, and travel to Nevis for a double-header.
