The Wildcats’ season came to an end Thursday as they fell 11-1 to Blackduck and 10-0 to Mille Lacs in the Section 5A playoffs.

Laporte opened the day facing top-seed Blackduck and began on a positive note as Hannah Backus singled and scored on Anna Katzenmeyer’s ground-out.

The Drakes answered with a run in the bottom half and took a 5-1 lead through two innings. Blackduck scored six runs on six hits in the third inning

Backus had two of Laporte’s five hits, with Morris, Izabel Padgett and Aubree Katzenmeyer each collecting one.

Macey Morris pitched three innings before getting relieved by Kylee Reimer. Morris gave up 12 hits and two walks with two strike outs. Reimer did not give up a hit and struck out one.

    Raiders shut out Laporte

Mille Lacs jumped out to 4-0 lead in the first inning and Laporte could never get any offense going as they fell 10-0 in five innings.

The Raiders scored two more in the second and four in the third for the final margin.

Laporte finished with only five hits while Mille Lacs had 12. Reimer had a double, while Lily Ewert, Anna Katzenmeyer, Padgett and Ila McDougle each had singles.

Morris pitched all four innings in the loss, giving up two walks with two strike outs.

The Raiders followed by knocking off Blackduck to advance to the next round of the playoffs.
