The Hackensack Lions Club had their first Lion Safari Aug. 10 as part of the 29th annual Northwoods Art and Book Festival.

This free event was such a hit that it will return in 2025 with three times more pith helmets and binoculars to aid young hunters as they follow the clues around the event looking for Leo the Lion.

Many children could be heard squealing out loud and announcing that they knew where the next clue was leading them and to continue in haste to the next clue site. It was clear that they were taking this safari seriously and needed their parents to move faster and be more focused.

“Hurry! Hurry!” they’d scream. “I know where he is!!” A fun time was had by all. Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 9, for another Lions Safari and spending a special day in Hackensack.
