    Remer man killed in rural Pequot Lakes crash identified

    The 60-year-old Remer man killed in a two-vehicle car crash Sept. 28 in rural Pequot Lakes has been identified as Robert Leerssen.

    Kristopher Lambke, 44, of Pequot Lakes was identified as the man driving the other vehicle.

    According to a police report, a serious crash involving two vehicles occurred on County Road 1, near the intersection with County Road 24 in Maple Township. Deputies and responders arrived and learned that two vehicles, a Ford pickup and a Mazda pickup, were involved in a serious crash, with the Mazda engulfed in fire.The driver of the Mazda, Leerssen, was ejected from the Mazda and pronounced deceased at the scene, while Lambke was treated on scene for minor injuries.

    Assisting at the scene was Pine River Fire, North Memorial Ambulance, Zone 3 First Responders, Lake Shore Police Department, Nisswa Police Department and Pequot Lakes Police Department.
