Police investigating developments in Groves shooting which left one dead

Police are investigating developments in a shooting in Groves which left one man dead from a gunshot wound in the early hours of August 10.

Groves Interim City Marshall Chris Robin said around 1:57 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting victim outside the Beverly Place Apartments at 5307 Gulfway Drive. Officers arrived at the scene and located one victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim, identified as 18-year-old Jesus Garcia from Port Arthur, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. ordered an autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing and has undergone developments as detectives review witness statements and video surveillance of the area.
