Fight at gender reveal party spilled from banquet room to main dining room

NEDERLAND — A fight broke out during gender reveal party spilling from a banquet room to the main dining area of a local restaurant Saturday.

The cause of the fracas — someone did not like the way they were told to pay their tabs, according to police.

Nederland Police Department officers were called at 8:22 p.m. Saturday to Sombrero Mexican Grill, 2095 North U.S. 69 for an argument that turned into a physical altercation, Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter said.

The fight went from the banquet room where the party was being held to the main dining room. One person was arrested on unrelated warrants.

“Somebody got mad because of the way someone told them to go pay their tabs,” Porter said.

No other arrests were made and only minor injuries were reported.
