    BOYS VOLLEYBALL

    Brookfield Clash

    BROOKFIELD - Kimberly took second place at the 24-team tournament with a 4-1 record.

    The Papermakers beat Wauwatosa East 25-19, 25-20, beat Hartland Arrowhead 25-16, 25-22, beat Cedarburg 20-25, 25-22, 15-11 and beat Nicolet 10-25, 25-19, 16-14.

    Top-ranked Germantown beat Kimberly 25-20, 11-25, 18-16.

    Alex Krause had 21 kills, seven aces and 28 digs for Kimberly. Nick Sroda added 21 kills, five blocks and six aces.

    Other leaders for Kimberly were Owen Krause with 33 kills and 20 digs, Michael Janssen with 35 kills and five blocks, Blake Zielinski with 91 assists and four aces, Tyler Haase with 24 kills and three blocks, and Jack Hruzek with 54 digs.

    Appleton North finished in seventh place, with victories over Kenosha Indian Trail 25-17, 25-13 and over Catholic Memorial 25-14, 25-22.

    Germantown beat Appleton North 25-21, 25-20 and Middleton topped the Lightning 25-22, 25-23.

    Nathan Ramus had 31 kills, 23 digs and four aces for North. Spencer Munson had 38 assists and 11 digs, Saolai Thao had 45 assists and 11 digs, Charlie Fanning had eight kills and 12 digs, and Landon Kue had 40 digs. Owen Tierney added 13 kills, Sam Kuehl had 12 kills and Rowan Cihlar had 12 kills.

    Neenah finished with a 3-2 record. Miles Weaver had 38 kills, Julian Kuehn had 36 kills, Ben Donaldson had 21 kills and seven blocks, and Cam Diekfuss had 90 assists and seven aces.

    GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

    GREEN BAY - Luxemburg-Casco finished in third place with a 3-2 record at the tournament, which was hosted by Notre Dame Academy.

    The Spartans beat Kewaskum 25-20, 25-23 and De Pere 25-11, 25-10 in pool play. Kimberly beat the Spartans 25-20, 25-20.

    In the semifinals, Slinger beat Luxemburg-Casco 23-25, 25-23, 15-8. In the third-place match, Luxemburg-Casco beat West De Pere 25-20, 25-13.

    Alayna Deprez had 127 assists, 44 digs and six aces for the Spartans. Ella Vander Velden added 36 kills, 28 digs and nine aces. Other leaders were Aubrey Frey with 55 kills, 47 digs and six aces, Campbell Onell with 20 kills and nine aces, and Rylan Kaminski with 46 digs.

    “It was another good day of volleyball,” L-C coach Jeff Frey said. “These early-season tournaments are about competing, growing and learning. We dropped a couple of close matches that could have gone either way, and we need to clean some things up. Overall, though, it was a great day of growth.”

    Slinger beat Kimberly in the championship match.

    Marshfield Invite

    MARSHFIELD - Shawano finished in second place at the six-team tournament with a 4-1 record.

    Marshfield went 5-0 to take first place.

    Shawano beat Abbotsford 25-14, 20-25, 15-9, swept Antigo 25-14, 25-18, beat Ladysmith 25-10, 25-11 and beat Mondovi 25-13, 25-11.

    Marshfield beat Shawano 25-18, 25-10.

    BOYS SOCCER

    Pulaski 0, West De Pere 0

    PULASKI - The Red Raiders and Phantoms played to a draw in the nonconference game.

    West De Pere goalie Sam Van Price made five saves. Josh Roth was in goal for Pulaski but didn’t need to make a save.
