    Here are the Appleton and Green Bay area teams and individuals at the WIAA state girls golf tournament

    The 53rd annual WIAA girls state golf championships are Monday and Tuesday at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.

    Play will begin at 8 a.m. both days. Tickets are $9 per day plus online fees and are available on the WIAA website.

    Divine Savior Holy Angels is the defending Division 1 team champion. Prescott won the Division 2 title last season for the fourth season in a row but has moved up to Division 1 this season.

    Here’s a look at the state team and individual qualifiers from the Appleton and Green Bay area.

    TEAMS

    Division 1

    Bay Port

    The Pirates advanced to state by winning the sectional they hosted at Thornberry Creek at Oneida with a 335 team score. They placed three individuals in the top 10, with Isabel Johnsen tying for second (78), Madelyn Gicius fourth (79) and Payton Dudra eighth (85). Myah Johnson and Jordan Perry round out the lineup. The Pirates also won the regional at Ledgeview as Dudra tied for first (86), Gicius was fourth (87) and Johnsen tied for seventh (90). Bay Port is making its eighth trip to state and eighth in as many years. The Pirates’ best finish is second place during the alternate COVID-19 season in 2020.

    Kaukauna

    The Ghosts finished second to Bay Port at the sectional with a 348 score. Charlie Clinefelter led the Ghosts by tying for fifth place with an 80. McKenna Lowe, who is also a cross-country standout for the Ghosts, finished seventh with an 81. Grace Schomin, Kennedy Kolosso and Clara Schomin are also part of Kaukauna’s lineup. The Ghosts won the Appleton West regional at Winagamie Golf Course with a 337 total. Grace Schomin, Clinefelter and Lowe all tied for regional medalist honors by shooting 81. Kaukauna is making its seventh trip to state, with its best finish seventh place in 2018 and 2023.

    Division 2

    Freedom

    The Irish advanced to state by winning the Seymour sectional at Crystal Springs with a team score of 400. Kay Lee McClintock, a sophomore, led Freedom by shooting 92 to tie for second place. Kori Reader shot 98 to tie for 11th place. Katelynn Shultz, Brooke Kirby and Kirsten Runyon round out the lineup for Freedom. The Irish finished second at the Little Chute regional at Mid-Vallee with a 408 score. McClintock was the regional champion with a 91 and Reader tied for second with a 95. Freedom is making its third trip to state after finishing fourth in 2021 and fifth in 2020.

    Seymour

    The Thunder advanced to state for the first time in program history after tying for second with Marinette at the sectional at Crystal Springs with a 403 score, then beating the Marines in a playoff. Morgan Lewis shot 96 and finished eighth to lead Seymour. Addison Gady shot 98 and placed 11th, and Gillian Herrala shot 100 to tie for 13th. Lyla Schueler and Maci Heagle round out the lineup. Seymour won the Luxemburg-Casco regional at Northbrook with a 387 score. Lewis, a sophomore, was the individual regional champ with a 92, Schueler tied for third (96), Gady placed sixth (98) and Herrala tied for seventh (101).

    INDIVIDUALS

    Division 1

    Taylor LeMire, Appleton North

    LeMire, a senior, advanced to state by shooting 80 at the sectional meet at Thornberry Creek at Oneida to tie for fifth place. She tied for sixth at the regional with an 87 at Winagamie Golf Course. LeMire played at state as a freshman in 2021 when the Lightning qualified as a team.

    Emma Cunningham, Green Bay Preble co-op

    The sophomore tied for second at the sectional at Thornberry Creek with a 78 and tied for first at the regional with an 86 at Ledgeview Golf Course. Cunningham tied for 12th at state last season in Division 1 with a two-day total of 159.

    Division 2

    Regan Hermanson, Marinette

    Hermanson, a senior, tied for second at the sectional by shooting 92 at Crystal Springs. She tied for seventh at the regional at Northbrook with a 101. Hermanson makes her second trip to state after finishing in 32nd place last year with a two-day total of 207.

    Taylor Miller, Oconto Falls

    Miller, a senior, tied for second at the sectional by shooting 92 at Crystal Springs to earn her first trip to state. She placed second at the regional at Northbrook with a 95.
