Members of the Bainbridge Rotary Club met at the Kirbo Center on Tuesday for their weekly meeting. The guest speakers of the day were Bainbridge Public Safety’s Chief Investigator Mark Esquivel and Investigator Gaston Corson.

Esquivel spoke first, discussing some of the new things happening at BPS. One recent change is the addition of a wellness program for officers, following a citizen donation of equipment.

Another development Esquivel mentioned is that BPS is currently in the process of trying to acquire Flock cameras, which can track criminal’s cars via license plate recognition. Esquivel provided several recent examples of recent crimes in the area where Flock cameras have led to arrests.

Esquivel also spoke on Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT), which trains to deal with active shooter situations, as well as the prevalence of gang crimes in the community, among other topics.

Following Esquivel, Corson spoke further about the local gang-related crimes. Both men answered multiple questions from the audience throughout the meeting.
