Shots fired in Prentiss Friday afternoon

Multiple gunshots were fired Friday afternoon in Prentiss.

The incident took place at Mt. Carmel Avenue and Front Street near the Prentiss Post Office.

Prentiss Police officers responded to the scene at approximately 6 p.m. and say three or more shooters were involved.

According to the officers, gunfire struck an innocent vehicle with occupants inside. No one was hit and there were no injuries reported.

Officers say the cars were chasing each other. One of them wrecked causing damage to a portion of the Longleaf Trace Park and the side exit of the post office.
