Students in the Jefferson Davis School District will now be participating in the Provision 2 school program starting this school year.

This program enables the school district to provide all meals at no charge to all students in Jefferson Davis County. For the district to participate in the program, a free and reduced meal application per household must be collected.

The Office of Food and Nutrition Program operates under the National School and Breakfast Program, which requires all students to fill out a Lunch Application to apply for free or reduced meals.

Under Provision 2, all children will receive meals at no charge regardless of their eligibility category. However, the district requests that households eligible for free and reduced-price meals complete the Free and Reduced Price Meals application.

Provision 2 reduces the application process to once every four years. The approved eligibility will be used to obtain proper reimbursement for the total meals served so the district can continue providing meals to all children at no charge.

All meal applications will be processed within 10 days when they are received in the school office. If you are unsure or have any questions, please contact 601-792-2738, Ext. 2704.

“Parents and guardians please be aware that students on special diets must have a letter from a physician stating the type of diet they are prescribing for the Child Nutrition Department to be able to accommodate the child,” said JDC Director of Food and Nutrition Latrice Williams.

In accordance with federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture civil rights regulations and policies, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
