Motorcyclist dies in Friday crash

A 19-year-old was killed in a motorcycle accident early Friday evening just outside Santa Rosa city limits, the CHP said.

The accident occurred on Riebli Road near Wallace Road around 5 p.m., the CHP said in a news release posted Saturday on Facebook. When officers arrived at the scene firefighting personnel were already there and the motorcyclist had been pronounced dead, the news release said.

A preliminary investigation concluded that the driver was traveling eastbound on Riebli Road at high speeds and illegally passed a vehicle over double lines, the news release said. The motorcyclist lost control as he approached a right curve in the road, went off the roadway and hit a fence.

No further details were immediately available. The victim’s name had not been released by the Sonoma County Sheriff Coroner’s Office.
