2024 Santa Rosa Marathon prompts weekend road closures

This weekend’s Santa Rosa Marathon will prompt road closures around Old Courthouse Square downtown and other parts of Santa Rosa.

The 16th annual event includes more than 1,000 athletes participating in races on Saturday and Sunday, a 5K and 10K on Saturday and a full and half marathon on Sunday. All races start and finish at Old Courthouse Square.

Drivers will be forced to use detours both days.

Closures in downtown Santa Rosa include Fourth Street between B and D streets and Mendocino Avenue between Fourth and Fifth streets on Saturday from 3-10:30 a.m. and Sunday from 3 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Sunday full marathon, a Boston Marathon qualifying event, begins at 6:30 a.m. and extends into west Santa Rosa past vineyards, at one point running through the barrel room of DeLoach Vineyards.

The half marathon begins at 7:30 a.m. Sunday and runs through downtown Santa Rosa and along the Santa Rosa Creek Trail and Prince Memorial Greenway.

In west Santa Rosa, Sunday’s road closures include Willowside Road between Hall and Piner roads, and Guerneville Road between Frei Road and County Manor Drive, from 6 a.m.-noon.

A post-race party at Old Courthouse Square for all race participants will include a DJ and giveaways. Participants 21 and older can get two free beers from local breweries.

Runners will be able to pick up their race packets at Sports Basement Santa Rosa, 1970 Santa Rosa Ave., on Friday from noon-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Spots are still open to run in the 5K, 10K and full marathon. The half marathon is sold out.
