    High School Roundup: Highlights from Friday's action

    BASEBALL

    Division I

    Juanita Sanchez 3, North Smithfield 2

    Luis Garcia allowed 2 runs while scattering 3 hits and he and teammate Brailin Dominguez each had a hit and an RBI as they led the Cavaliers to a narrow victory over the Northmen. Nathan Dec singled in both runs for North Smithfield, which falls below .500 at 8-9. Juanita Sanchez improves to 10-7.

    Lincoln 8, Mt. Hope 6 (13 inn.)

    It took 13 innings to decide the winner, but in the end the Lions plated the two runs they needed to make the difference. Tyler Almeida hit a ground ball that was misplayed and allowed two Lions to score what would be the eventual winning runs. Jaiden Torres pitched 7 innings in relief, allowing 1 run and striking out 3 to earn the win. For the Huskies, Brian Abbruzzi drove in two runs and Daniel Desilets was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored.

    North Kingstown 4, Toll Gate 0

    Ben Napoli threw a 1-hit complete game for the Skippers and Quincy Rome and Ben Davis each had 2 hits and an RBI for the Skippers. Blake Beattie and Chris Ciarniello each chipped in with a hit and RBI. Brayden Ogden had Toll Gate's hit.

    Division III

    Rogers 11, Providence Country Day 2

    Darren Carter and Colby Schreiber each smacked 2 hits and drove in 2 runs and the Vikings rolled to their 12th win in 16 games and remain second in the division behind West Warwick. Conor Donahue also had 2 hits and scored three runs. PCD, which falls to 6-12, was led by Trevor Pollucci, who knocked in a pair of runs.

    SOFTBALL

    Division I

    Moses Brown 4, Chariho 3 (11 inn.)

    Freshman Abby Sepe's two-out bunt with 2 strikes was misplayed for an error and Sofia Mikulasek scored from third for the walk-off win. Mikulasek was the designated runner at second base and she reached third on a sacrifice bunt by Hannah Roodhouse. The game resumed in the top of the ninth and each team scored a single run in the 10th. Lydia Medeiros had a pair of hits for the Quakers (4-10) and Julianna Masse had a hit and the only RBI. Adriana Jeannenot had a pair of hits and an RBI for the Chargers (8-8) and Erin O'Leary also had a hit and a run batted in.

    Prout 4, Smithfield 1

    The Crusaders exploded for 4 runs in the third inning, keyed by Molly Green's 3 RBI. Mia Boyajian drove in the fourth and that was all the offense Prout needed. In the circle, freshman Lucy Kaiser allowed 1 hit and 1 unearned run over 7 innings to earn the win, striking out 15 along the way. For the Sentinels, Maddie Bose was 1-for-3 with an RBI in the loss.

    Nonleague

    North Kingstown 8, Toll Gate 0

    Starter Mia 'D'Andrea (3 innings) and reliever Gianna Amedeo (4 innings) combined for a 7-hit shutout and Amedeo provided the offense, finishing with 3 hits and 3 runs batted in for the Skippers victory. Riley McHale and Izzy Bothuneach chipped in with 2 hits as NK, of Division I, improved to 6-13. Reagan Motta had 3 of the hits for the D-II Titans, now 5-9.

    BOYS LACROSSE

    Division III

    Westerly 14, Burrillville 4

    Ian Morisette scored 4 goals and assisted on 3 others, Caleb Williams had the hat trick and added a helper and Mike Gervasini and Matt Horton had each had two scores with Gervasini also picking up an assist as the Bulldogs rolled to victory over the Broncos. For Burrillville, Evan Polacek found the back of the net twice in the loss.

    Division IV

    Rogers 10, Classical 1

    David Rivera and Max Martland each scored four goals in the Vikings win over the Purple. Also contributing to the win were Kevin Rivera and Luke Matthews with a goal apiece and goalie Brayden Ward recorded 8 saves. London Vincent had the lone goal for Classical.

    North Smithfield 7, Burrillville 0

    Sam Drolet def. Alex Pristawa, 6-1, 6-0; Davis Carter def. Rihanna Morin, 6-1, 6-2; Noah Schwartz def. Rylan Phommochanh, 6-1, 6-1; Justin Elledge def. Sam Foster, 6-0, 6-2; Nate Comeau/Kaiden Dalby def. Caleb Young/Katie Langevin, 7-5, 6-3; Tim Ferri/Nate Tremblay def. Molly Dipietro/Sophie Foster, 6-1, 6-1; Bryce Santos/Dylan Driscoll def. Ayriah Phommochanh/Nevyn Morrissey, 6-0, 6-0.

    BOYS VOLLEYBALL

    Division I

    North Kingstown 3, La Salle 1 (25-22, 25-22, 27-29, 25-23)

    Ryan Rathbun totaled 12 kills and 5 blocks, Cody Tow made 11 kills, 10 digs and 4 blocks and Quinlan Fahy had 9 kills and 9 blocks as the Rebels improved to 15-1 and remain atop the division standings. Ephraim Abulime accounted for 24 kills and Stephen Buco had 40 assists for the Rams, who slip to 12-5.

    Division II

    Central 3, West Warwick 0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-17)

    Jet Nascimento posted 10 kills, 3 aces and 2 blocks, Phirun Barn was good for 6 kills and 3 aces and EQ Chan dished off 22 assists in the Knights sweep of the Wizards. Santiago Sauledo turned in a strong effort for West Warwick as he recorded 16 digs, 7 assists and 2 aces.
