La Salle 3, Moses Brown 1

With the explosive Rams’ offense being quieted, Hailey Vigneau remained on top of her game and shut the door in relief in a 3-1 win over the Quakers.

It was business as usual for the La Salle offense, which put up two in the first on a sac bunt that scored Giuliana Ialongo and was followed by an RBI double by Samantha Sell for a 2-0 lead out of the gate.

But the Rams’ bats were quieted the rest of the way as Moses Brown All-Stater Anna Costello was on her game. The senior ace threw a complete game, giving up four hits, walking two and striking out 17.

Normally an effort like that is enough for a win, but not with Vigneau in the circle.

La Salle’s sophomore ace took over for starter Kayleigh Gouchie in the fourth inning and after giving up a leadoff single, became untouchable. Vigneau retired nine of the next 10 batters she faced to seal the victory.

Phoenyx Silva found some success on offense, going 2-for-3 and driving in an insurance run in the fifth. Ialongo scored two runs in the win.

Coco Medeiros was the Moses Brown offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI in the first inning that drove in Abby DeWolf . The loss drops the Quakers to 4-11 in Division I-B and they need to win one of their final three games to earn a postseason spot. Moses Brown hosts Smithfield Monday, plays at Prout Tuesday, then plays at Smithfield Wednesday.

La Salle is now 17-0 and can complete its undefeated season Tuesday when it hosts Pilgrim.

    Chariho 9, Smithfield 1

Adriana Jeannenot ’s sparkling freshman continued on Saturday as she dominated in the circle and game up with the game-breaking hit in the Chargers’ 9-1 win over Smithfield.

Jeannenot had it working in the circle all afternoon. She allowed one hit through six innings before a single by Crystal Cacador and a double from Skye Oliveira set up a sac fly by Sophia Parrillo .

The freshman respoded to the run by striking out the final two batters of the game. Jeannenot’s final line saw her give up three hits, one run and finish with 15 strikeouts, including her 200 th of the season.

Jeannenot also got it done with the bat. The Super Chargers were nursing a 1-0 lead before exploding for five runs in the fourth. Three came off a bases-clearing double by Jeannenot, who had the big day for the Chariho offense with a 2-for-4 performance.

Brianna DiGiacomo had a hit and scored twice for the Chargers and Kaitlyn Daniels went 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI.

The win puts Chariho at 9-8 in Division I-B and the Chargers close the regular season Monday with a home game against East Providence. Smithfield is now 5-11 and ends its regular season with a road game at Moses Brown Monday before hosting the Quakers Wednesday.

    Cranston West 15, Coventry 3

The Falcons’ offense was flying high Sunday morning as they cruised to a 15-3 win over the Oakers.

Mia Crudale set the tone early with a two-run homer in the first inning and Cranston West’s bats didn’t stop the rest of the game. The Falcons scored for in the first, got a two-run shot in the second from Sofia Nardelli and then piled on nine runs in the fifth.

Every Cranston West player who took a swing got a hit on Sunday. Nardelli went 2-for-4 with the home run, four RBI and scored twice, Jenna Malloy went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs, Sofia Marella was 3-for-3 with two RBI and Mia Santoassimo went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run.

Crudale hit the home run and threw well in five innings of work, striking out eight.

Coventry scrapped three runs across in the bottom of the fifth. Liliana Bell drove home two of those with an RBI double and scored on a single by Izzy Dyl . The Oakers drop to 14-3 with the loss, but will be the No. 1 seed from Division I-A and wrap up the season Monday at Cumberland.

The win closed out the regular season for Cranston West, which should be in line for the No. 2 seed out of Division II-A with an 11-7 record.

    Prout 14, East Providence 2

The Crusaders offense got to work early, then put the game away with an eight-run third inning in a 14-2 mercy-rule shortened win over the Townies.

Prout scored two runs in the first – one on an error, another on an RBI double by Meadow D’Iorio – and scored four in the second – two on an RBI single by Molly Green .

The bats remained hot in the third, as the Crusaders scored eight runs on six hits. Lily Sheehan drove in two with a double, Green had an RBI single and Giselle Jeffrey capped the inning with a two-run single.

Green had a huge day, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs. Lucy Kaiser went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs and Mia Boyajian was 2-for-3 with two runs. Jeffrey and Sheehan both drove in a pair and Kelsea Flaherty scored two runs.

East Providence’s Emma Boisseau had a solid day in defeat, going 2-for-2 with two RBI.

North Kingtown 15, St. Raphael 13

The Skippers offense showed up a big way before seeing a nine-run lead nearly disappear in a 15-13 win over the Saints.

North Kingstown was down 4-3 through two innings when the offense rallied with two outs. Kylah LeComte came up with a two-run double and after a walk and passed ball on a strikeout, Michaela Bucci hit a bases-loaded triple, then scored on Mia D’Andrea ’s single that made it 9-4.

The Saints came back with a pair in the bottom of the third, but NK responded with one in the top of the fifth and seemingly put the game away with four in the top of the fifth.

St. Raphael answered with two more runs and after NK scored one in the sixth that made it 15-8, things got interesting.

Sadie Lallier scored on a double steal, then Chelsea Godin came home on a single by Ava Hill . A bases-loaded walk to Gemma D’Orazio brought home Hill and Sam Superczynski ripped a single that brough in Jaliyah De Los Santos to make it 15-13.

With one out and the go-ahead run at the plate, D’Andrea locked in. She retired the next two batters to end the sixth, then threw a 1-2-3 seventh to end the game.

Lecomte had a huge game for the Skippers, going 3-for-5 with five RBI and one run. D’Andrea was 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run and Riley McHale went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Gianna Amadeo scored three runs and Gabriella Peralta scored a pair for NK, which qualified for the Division I playoffs with the win.

D’Orazio was a beast for the Saints, going 3-for-3 with four RBI and three runs. Superczynski went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run in the loss.

St. Raphael 9, North Kingstown 2

The Saints’ late rally in Game 1 carried over to the second game, as McKenna Mare helped the offense put up crooked numbers in three of the first four innings in an eventual 9-2 win over the Skippers.

Playing at their home field at Slater Park but the visitor on the scoreboard, St. Raphael started early with a two-out, two-run single by Mare.

With two outs and two on in the third, Mare came through again, this time with a double that scored Sam Superczynski and Sophie Roman . In the fourth, St. Raphael added three on an RBI single by Gemma D’Orazio , Jaliyah De Los Santos scoring on a passed ball and a sac fly by Roman.

Mare finished her afternoon 2-for-4 with four RBI. D’Orazio went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI while De Los Santos went 2-for-4 with two runs. Roman drove in a pair and Superczynski and Lily Briere both scored two runs.

It was more than enough offense for sophomore pitcher Emma Martin , who threw a complete game, giving up four hits, two runs and striking out seven.

Julianna Bucci was a highlight for the NK offense, going 2-for-2 and scoring a run. The loss puts the Skippers at 5-12 and they’ll wrap up the regular season Monday with a home game against East Greenwich.

The win secures St. Raphael’s spot in the postseason. The Saints are 5-11 in Division II-A and close the season with a home game against Prout on Monday and Cumberland Tuesday.

    DIVISION II

    Ponaganset 4, Scituate 2

Things were going smoothly for the Chieftains early, but they had to hold on late to pick up a 4-2 win over the Spartans.

Ponaganset got off to the start it was looking for, taking a 1-0 lead on a one-out single by Jillian Baris that scored Ava DiFiore . Baris was thrown out trying to take an extra base on the play, but Maia Salvo made up for it with a home run to right field and a 2-0 lead.

In the fourth Mia Duncan – who had three hits for Ponaganset – scored off a wild pitch and things were looking good for the Chieftains.

But then Scituate came screaming back.

With two outs in the sixth, Kate Nickerson started a rally with a single, Victoria Geisser followed with a single and both moved up an extra base on an error, then came home when Maura Pendergast singled to center field.

DiFiore got out of the jam with a strikeout to close the inning and in the seventh, Chloe Barber ’s two-out double brought home DiFiore with an insurance run. Scituate tried to rally in the seventh and after Nickerson drew a one-out walk, Barber came into the game and closed things out with two strikeouts.

The win improved Ponaganset to 11-2 in Division II play. The Chieftains wrap up the regular season Tuesday at home against Westerly where a win and a Johnston loss to South Kingstown would give them the No. 1 seed for the D-II playoffs. If Ponaganset loses, it would be the No. 3 seed.

Scituate falls to 7-4 and has three games over the next three days to help determine its seeding, hosting Barrington on Monday and traveling to South Kingstown Tuesday and Toll Gate Wednesday. If the Spartans win out, they’ll likely end up as the No. 5 seed.

    Division III

Davies 8, Mount St. Charles 3

The Patriots scored three runs in both the third and fourth innings, getting the push they needed to take down the Mounties, 8-3.

Trailing 2-1 in the third, Darelyn Maldonado tied the game with an RBI single. Two batters later, Aalyshah Guzman drove in Lauren Bradshaw and Maldonado to make it 4-2.

Davies kept things going in the fourth. A groundout by Madison Blanchette brought home Sara Chiaverini and two batters later, Bradshaw singled home Kylie Robert . Tiana Hernandez drove home the final run of the inning, a double that scored Bradshaw for the 7-2.

Gabriella Fisher made sure the lead stuck. After giving up two runs in the second, Fisher threw up zeroes the remainder of the game. She finished with six strikeouts and earned the win.

Maldonado had a three-hit day, scoring a run and driving one in. Blanchette went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run and Bradshaw was 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Guzman finished with two RBI.

Sylvee Lemire did most of the damage for Mount St. Charles with her two-run single in the second inning.

The win improved Davies to 8-5 in Division IV. The Patriots are in a position to earn the No. 2 seed for the D-III playoffs if they can beat Rogers Tuesday and if Pawtucket and Tiverton lose their remaining games.

Mount drops to 5-7 with the loss. The Mounties will wrap up the regular season at Exeter-West Greenwich Monday before welcoming the Scarlet Knights to Woonsocket on Tuesday.
