Rabbits are taking over South Kingstown – or at least a section

Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing.

Wascally wabbits are running rampant over a section of South Kingstown.

No, this isn't the plot of the latest Bugs Bunny cartoon and in the case of Stewart Nurseries co-owner Ian Stewart it's also no laughing matter.

Almost across the street from Stewart's business is Tuckertown Park, a haven of baseball and soccer fields, a playground and most importantly – at least in this case – lots of forested land overlooking a pond.

As Stewart has found out, it's also a popular place for people to dump rabbits.

The Journal's Antonia Farzan recently talked with Stewart to learn more about the problem he's facing with rabbits and how he found out his neighborhood has become the location of choice for rabbit relocation.

    • Justyna Jensen and her husband Jeffrey have been targeting social equity programs across the country with lawsuits and now Rhode Island is in their crosshairs.

    • There hasn't been a Red Lobster in Rhode Island since one in Warwick closed almost 25 years ago and there's good reason for that. With the chain filing for bankruptcy and closing stores it's a good time to think about all the great places you can get lobster in the Ocean State and Journal food and dining editor Gail Ciampa has you covered.

    • While the most popular girls name in Rhode Island will have a familiar ring, after three years of Liam being the most popular boys name in RI, a new name has topped this list. See what names make the top 10.
