WOONSOCKET – A 20-year-old North Smithfield man died after losing control of a motorcycle Saturday in Woonsocket, according to Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas F. Oates III.

Joseph Rossi was riding south on Truman Parkway shortly before 6 p.m. when he struck a light fixture in the divided highway, Oates said via email.

Woonsocket Fire Rescue took Rossi to Landmark Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help Rossi's family with funeral costs and other related expenses.

"Joseph is loved by his extensive family and many friends and will be greatly missed and grieved for, especially from his parents Anthony and Tonya, and his elder brother Anthony," says the campaign organized by Vanessa Lemoine of North Smithfield.

Rossi would have turned 21 next month, according to information on the GoFundMe page.
