An off-duty Cranston police officer was arrested Saturday night after a woman accused him of urinating on her new cowgirl boots at a Kenny Chesney concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

Shane Lynch was arrested for disorderly conduct and later also charged with wanton destruction of property, according to reports from the Foxboro Police Department. He was also barred from the stadium.

The Cranston police are investigating the incident, Cranston Police Chief Col. Michael J. Winquist confirmed. Lynch is on "regularly scheduled leave/time off," Winquist said via email.

The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. in the "sandpit" area of the stadium, according to police reports.

Joseph Brienze, a Needham police officer working a concert detail, wrote that he and another officer were asked to go to the sandpit to check on a report from a woman who complained that a man had urinated on her "shoes."

There he saw a man, later identified as Lynch, "who appeared to be extremely intoxicated," Brienze wrote. Lynch was "holding a Bud Light can, swaying back and forth and his eyes were almost closed," Brienze wrote. His zipper was down, and his shorts appeared wet, he wrote.

The victim told Brienze she was standing in the sandpit area when she felt "something wet spray her leg. She looked down and saw Shane urinating on her shoes," Brienze wrote.

Foxboro Detective Mark Bohnenberger later interviewed the victim, who said she'd asked Lynch, "Did you just pee down my leg?" According to the victim, Lynch said, "I did?" and then moved away in an attempt to blend in with the crowd.

The victim, whose name was redacted, told Bohnenberger that her "leather Ariat cowgirl boots" now smelled of urine and were ruined. She'd recently bought them for the concert and valued them at $180, she told Bohnenberger.
