    7 corn mazes to wander through in Rhode Island this fall

    As the cooler temperatures of fall settle into Rhode Island, it's the perfect time to explore one of the state's corn mazes.

    While solving the puzzle of a maze's twisted pathways offers a thrill in itself, corn mazes all across the state offer much more than that. Whether you're looking for a maze full of mini games perfect for children or a haunted walkthrough sure to scare the bravest of adults, one of Rhode Island's corn mazes is sure to provide you with the perfect fall activity.

    Check out the seven corn mazes below for some of the best Rhode Island has to offer.

    Escobar Farm

    The Escobar Corn Maze has been a tradition at this Portsmouth farm since 2000. This year, the 8.5 acre maze features a design to celebrate the maze's 25th anniversary, complete with a pumpkin patch, hay rides and a snack bar.

    Entry to the maze costs $10 for ages 11 and older, $8 for ages 4-10, $5 for military personnel and free for ages 3 and under. Season passes are also available, and tickets for other attractions are sold separately. Tickets can only be purchased on-site with cash, though Escobar Farm hopes to add an online purchasing option soon.

    When : Escobar's corn maze is open Friday-Sunday from Sept. 7 until Nov. 3 with hours from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

    Salisbury Farm

    Unique designs attract thousands of people to the giant corn maze at Salisbury Farm each year. The theme for the 2024 corn maze is "high sea adventure," with the paths making pictures of mermaids, sailors and sharks.

    Weekday tickets cost $12 for ages 12 and older or $9 for ages 3-11, while weekend or holiday tickets cost $14 for ages 12 and older or $12 for ages 3-11. Ages 2 and under are always free. Salisbury Farm also offers a special moonlight maze on select days during the season, for which tickets are $18 for ages 12 and older or $15 for ages 3-11.

    When : Salisbury Farm is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekends. The moonlight maze is open from 6-9 p.m. on Oct. 12 and 19 only.

    Confreda's Greenhouses and Farms

    Confreda's MAiZE is part of the farm's fall fest tradition, complete with hayrides, carnival rides, food trucks and pumpkin patches. Admission tickets are $15 for all ages over 2, and amusement ride tickets are sold separately.

    For fans of fear, Confreda also hosts Scary Acres , Rhode Island's largest haunted scream park which features a haunted burial grounds corn field. Tickets must be purchased for a specific day and time slot in advance, and will cost $30 or $35 depending on the day.

    When : The MAiZE at Confreda is open on weekends from Sept. 28-Oct. 27 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with last entry to the maze at 4 p.m. Scary Acres' season lasts from Sept. 13-Oct. 27, with hours from 7-10:15 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays in September and Friday-Sunday in October.

    Clark Farms

    The annual corn maze at Clark Farms is sure to be full of whimsical fun this year with its circus theme. Clark offers a variety of other fall activities, such as hayrides, a petting zoo, a go-kart track and campfires with s'mores on Saturdays in October. Tickets can be bought in person or online.

    When : Hours at Clark's corn maze are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday from Sept. 14-Oct. 27. Guests can also try their luck at the maze under the moon, with late night maze admission until 8pm on Saturdays in October.

    Cucumber Hill Farm

    This Foster farm chooses a fun, educational theme for each year's maze , and for 2024, the theme is food favorites. Find your way through the foodie maze during the day or night by flashlight, a deal exclusively offered on Saturdays. Entry to the maze is $14 for ages 12 and older, $7 for ages 6-11 and free for ages 5 and under.

    Other attractions at this farm include pony rides, pumpkin picking, axe throwing and hay rides. Prices for these events are not included with admission to the maze.

    When : Cucumber Hill Farm is open for the fall season on weekends from Sept. 21-Oct. 27, with hours from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday.

    Spring Hill Sugar House

    The triangle of trolls corn maze at Spring Hill Sugar House offers a fun themed-experience for the whole family to enjoy. Tickets are free for ages 5 and under, and $10 for everyone else.

    When : Hours at this troll-filled maze are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekends and 12-5 p.m. on weekdays from Sept. 21-Oct. 31. Last admission to the maze is 4:30 p.m. daily.

    Where : 522 Gardiner Rd. Richmond, RI

    Adam's Farm

    Adam's Farm in Cumberland has a thrilling five-acre mega corn maze as well as kid-friendly hay and corn maze perfect for younger children to explore. Also at this farm are a petting area, tire playground, farm stand, hayrides, cider donuts and the state's largest pumpkin patch.

    General admission to the farm is $13.95, mega admission is $21.95 and season passes are $45. Children ages 2 and under always enter for free.

    When : Adam's is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on weekends.
