    Colorado State Fair kicks off at the fairgrounds

    Raminator Monster Truck at Colorado State Fairgrounds

    "Trap" play performances at Impossible Playhouse

    1201 N. Main St. | 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday | The 58th season for the community theater group kicks off with, "Trap," the story of an incomprehensible event when every person in the audience of a high school play falls unconscious, except one. Using interviews with witnesses, loved ones, first responders, and investigators, a theatre ensemble brings the story of this strange event to life. The play is rated PG-13.     Breakfast Fundraiser at Shrine of St. Therese

    300 Goodnight Ave. | 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | The Knights of Columbus will serve pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and orange juice. Cost is $8 and take-out is available.

    Retro Dragtacular at Darkness Boutique

    2113 W. Northern Ave. | 2 p.m. doors and brunch, 3 p.m. show | Hosted by Tiara Latrice, this retro glamour performance event features the talents of Arachnophobia, Leia Trillz Latrice, Rebecca Alize Latrice, and Vanessa Latrice.     Sweet Adelines Open Rehearsal at First Presbyterian Church

    220 W. 10th St. | 7 p.m. | Join the Sweet Adelines for an evening of singing four-part acapella harmony.

    A Regular Night of Pool at The Ethos

    Silent Book Club at The Ethos

    Friday, Aug. 30

    Punk Concert at Blo Back Gallery

    131 Spring St. | Doors open at 4 p.m., show at 5 p.m. | Canadian punk legends DayGlo Abortions will perform the band's only Southern Colorado show. Performances by The Brothels, Clusterfux, P.I.D, Diskount Vodka and Kobra. Tickets are $15 in advance at innocentsinners.com or $20 the day of the show. All ages are welcome.

    Deadline for tickets for Sharon Ross Wade performance in Beulah

    'Prima's Guide to Funerals' comedy play at Sangre de Cristo Arts Center

Santa Fe Ave. | 7 p.m. | Creede Repertory Theatre will present the comedy focusing on a funeral with a fast-paced and hilarious play set along the waters of the Rio Grande in the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado.
