Colorado State Fair visitors can soak up some Pueblo-proud food offerings during the final three days of the fair whether they are spicing things up during Pueblo Chile Day Saturday or visiting one of the 13 locally operated food and beverage booths.

"You won’t want to miss Pueblo Chile Day," said Krystle Herrera, communications coordinator for the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and Visit Pueblo. "There will be farm stand maps plus fresh, certified Pueblo chile being roasted, and (free) handmade Pueblo chile wraps being served."

The Pueblo Chile Booth will open at 11 a.m. and chile roasting will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The booth is located at the Explore Colorado Building right next to Triangle Park .

"While you’re at the fairgrounds, check out the Explore Colorado Building, presented by the Colorado Tourism Office, to learn about exciting places to discover in Colorado and how to 'Do Colorado Right'," Herrera said.

Where to get Pueblo food offerings at the Colorado State Fair

If you are craving some Pueblo-centric food fare while visiting the fair, you can get Pueblo chile-smothered dishes like a slopper or chile fries, some of Giodone's spaghetti and meatballs, or a Pass Key Italian sausage sandwich at one of 13 spots operated by Pueblo vendors.

"The Pueblo restaurants all use Colorado-based ingredients, especially the ones serving green chile," said Amy Gillentine, communications director for the fair.

Pueblo's own Manhattan's Pizza Parlor, Giodone's Italian Bar and Grill and the Toler Brothers each have three different food booths at the fair, accounting for nine of the local stops.

Manhattann's offers pizza and bar options plus fair food like green chile fries and chili dogs. The Giodone family serves everything from sloppers, which are cheeseburgers smothered in green chile, to spaghetti and meatballs and even burritos.

Last summer, the Giodone family added a burrito stand to their fair lineup. They have been serving food at the fair since 1985, starting with a little trailer at Triangle Park, where they sold Italian fried bread.

The Toler Brothers serve up everything from turkey legs, all-beef hot dogs and pulled pork sandwiches to cotton candy and lemonade.

The Pass Key's Pagano family offers their traditional Italian sausage sandwiches including the Pass Key Special and the Super Pass Key at their Pass Key on the Go booth. It's a Pueblo tradition that goes all the way back to the 1950s.

Pueblo coffee shop, Mane Brew, will be "serving our delicious drinks and food options as well as a few additions and surprises this year," including some favorite fall pumpkin spice options, according to the business's Facebook page . "We are at the corner of the new plaza grounds across from the CSU pavilion and dairy bar."

Cultural Alliance of Pueblo and Vineland United Methodist Church are two Pueblo nonprofits operating booths at the fair this year to raise funds for their programs. The Cultural Alliance has a beer and soda booth inside the Ag Palace and the Vineland Cafe is located across from the Ag Palace.
