Are you a lover of spine-tingling scares or paranormal encounters? What about ghost hunts and spooky happenings combined with Pueblo history and lore?

If so, there are several opportunities to get your spook on in Pueblo this October, from the annual Ghost Walk and "Victorian Horror Stories" to a church-themed haunted house and late-night ghost hunting in an allegedly haunted hangar.

Here are some of the top options to celebrate spooky season in Pueblo.

20th annual Ghost Walk in downtown Pueblo

Armed with hair-raising stories based on historical records, actors depicting some of Pueblo's historic and folkloric figures will lead participants to 10 spooky sites in downtown Pueblo.

Walks will depart every 15 minutes between 5 and 8 p.m., Oct. 11-12, starting and finishing at Fuel & Iron Food Hall, 400 S. Union Ave.

Thanks to information gleaned from Colorado historical newspapers and Pueblo Historical Society publications, the tour includes tales of 1946 World Welterweight Champion boxer Marty Servo, portrayed by actor Dale Servo; Ludlow Massacre victim Louis Tikas, a union organizer portrayed by Ken Thompson; and the "Pigman of City Park," portrayed by Mike Reininger, depicting a creature who haunts the park trying to atone for his sins against his brother.

Participants also will meet Cathay Williams, the first female to enlist in the U.S. Army while posing as a man during the Indian Wars as portrayed by Muriel Blacksher-Martinez. At Baxter Bridge, actor Conner Bond will speak about the old Sicilian vendetta between the Carlino and Danna families, which took a deadly turn on the bridge.

The ghost tours also include bloodcurdling stories about the Colorado Insane Asylum and the 1921 flood.

The cost is $12.51 and tickets are on sale at ghostwalk-pueblo.com . Children 5 and younger accompanied by an adult are free.

The event supports the Pueblo Domestic Violence Community Task Force in creating awareness and eradicating domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and domestic abuse in the community through support and education.

The Church of Nightmares Haunted House at Goodnight Event Center

The Church of Nightmares Haunted House is in its second terrifying year and has expanded to include "more sinister attractions, spine-chilling scares and a new, darker twist on the things that go bump in the night," according to the event website.

Located at 634 Goodnight Ave., the event takes visitors through, "the cursed halls of an abandoned church, where shadows whisper, and malevolent spirits prey on the unsuspecting. The haunting begins the moment you cross the threshold and every creak of the floorboards, every flicker of candlelight, will make your pulse race," the website states.

Prepare to journey through cursed chapels and forgotten rooms, where lost souls wail for mercy. For those who dare, expect interactive scares, live actors with disturbing stories, and rooms that will challenge your perception of reality.

"Every corner holds a new terror, and there's no turning back once you start," the website warns. "Be warned, this experience is not for the faint of heart, and no refunds will be given for those who are too frightened to continue."

The haunted house is recommended for ages 13 and up, but younger children are allowed at parental discretion. Hours are 7 p.m.-midnight, Oct. 11-12; and 7-10 p.m., Oct. 13.

The haunted house continues from 7 p.m. to midnight every Thursday through Saturday through Nov. 2. Sunday events are slated for 7-10 p.m. Oct. 20 and Oct. 27.

Tickets are $30 for adults or $15 for children 14 and younger. Tickets are on sale at goodnighteventcenter.com/

War Memorial Ghost Tours at the Weisbrod Aircraft Museum

Since word got out that sightings of apparitions of fallen soldiers are a nightly occurrence at the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum, ghost tours were formed so ghost hunters could experience the phenomenon.

Located on a former military base, the museum holds aviation rescue aircraft and vehicles from WWI, WWII, and the Korean War. The ghost tour includes a military rescue plane lock-in inside an aircraft that transported hundreds of injured and dying soldiers.

Ghost tour staff provide participants with flashlights and electromagnetic field detectors, or EMF meters, to monitor changes in the surrounding electromagnetic environment for the full supernatural experience. Participants are invited to bring their phones to catch spooky sightings to share with their family and friends.

Pueblo War Memorial Ghost Tour events are slated to run from 8-10 p.m. Oct. 12, Oct. 19, and Oct. 26. The cost is $24.95 for adults or $14.95 for children ages 12 and younger, seniors age 60 or older, and veterans.

Tickets are available online at puebloghosttour.com .

Victorian Horror Stories at the Rosemount Museum

Experience some chilling Victorian horror at the Rosemount Museum as Searcher Collective brings Edgar Allan Poe’s dark tales of isolation, madness, and entombment to life.

This year's theme is, "All I Loved, I Loved Alone," as acclaimed Colorado actors deliver an intimate, immersive theater experience that will send tingles down your spine. Poe's tales are adapted by Thomas Jancis and their mesmerizing plot lines will transport you to a time when the supernatural reigned.

Located at 419 W. 14th St., the 131-year-old, 37-room mansion is the ideal setting for the eerie world of Victorian horror. Organizers with Searcher Collective promise an "unforgettable evening of storytelling and a theater experience like no other. Dare to descend into the world of shadows, where the past comes alive and nightmares dwell."

Participants should expect a spooky ambiance and eerie soundscapes that set the atmosphere, plus there will be interactive moments with the live performers. Those who attend should come dressed in their best Victorian-inspired attire for a chance to win prizes.

Performances run every 15 minutes from 6-9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 10-12 and again Oct. 17-19; as well as 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13. Tickets are $25 for adults or $2 for museum members and children ages 12 and younger. They are sold online at searchercollective.com/nightterrors .
