The American Cancer Society’s national fundraiser Relay for Life will come to Clark County this September as runners and walkers participate in a relay to raise money for cancer research, advocacy and education.

The Clark County Relay for Life will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at Esther Short Park, 605 Esther St., Vancouver.

Funds raised by Relay for Life will support numerous initiatives by the American Cancer Society, including funding and conducting breakthrough research, community education, patient advocacy and providing services to cancer patients, a press release by the American Cancer Society stated.

The relay will begin with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Food will be available for purchase onsite, and cancer survivors and one caregiver may receive a free meal. Live musical performances and activities for all ages will be available until 3 p.m. The evening will conclude with a luminaria ceremony at 8:30 p.m., the release stated.

“Relay For Life is more than just a walk. It builds a community of hope for cancer patients, caregivers and survivors,” cancer survivor and volunteer Donna Ellis said in the press release. “We hope the entire community will come out and support us, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
