The Marist lacrosse team capped a historic season, defeating Roseburg, 18-5, Tuesday night.

The Spartans finished as the only undefeated team at 16-0 in the south division of the Oregon Girls Lacrosse Association for the first time in program history.

"I was expecting us to have a really good season, to compete for our league, but nowhere near what they've done this year," said Marist head coach Ryan De Lee, whose three daughters are on the team.

The Spartans outscored opponents 259-79 on the season.

Junior Rowan De Lee led the Spartans with 69 goals scored. Sophomore twins Kegan De Lee and McKenna De Lee each contributed 55 and 30 goals, respectively.

Senior goaltenders Emma Bridgens and Abigail Schombert combined for 98 saves on the season.

What to expect for Marist in the playoffs

The OGLA will host two tournament brackets: the state championship bracket (12 teams) and the Silver Cup bracket (8 teams).

Marist will take on St. Mary's Academy in Portland at noon on Tuesday in the first round of the state championship bracket.
