The Eugene-area high school sports scene had more than a few standout performances recently.

This week's Register-Guard Athlete of the Week nominees are:

• Avy Roundy, Marist Catholic volleyball
• Tessa Hammond, Pleasant Hill soccer
• Dani Haverland, Sheldon soccer
• Piper Hanson, Creswell volleyball
• Brynn Zeigler, South Eugene soccer
• Ruby Jackson, Pleasant Hill volleyball
• Rylee Madison, North Eugene soccer

Emmiana Gerdrum, Thurston soccer

The freshman scored a goal in a 3-0 win over Redmond on Aug. 31 before notching another goal in a 2-1 win over Mountain View on Wednesday.

Avy Roundy, Marist Catholic volleyball

The senior had five kills in a 25-19, 19-25, 16-14 victory over North Eugene to claim the NPJ tournament title on Aug. 31. She had eight kills in a 3-1 win over Churchill on Tuesday.

Tessa Hammond, Pleasant Hill soccer

The senior tallied two goals in a 3-1 win over Elmira on Monday before notching another goal in a 1-0 win over Douglas on Thursday.

Dani Haverland, Sheldon soccer

The sophomore scored three goals in a 8-0 win over West Salem on Tuesday.

Piper Hanson, Creswell volleyball

The sophomore had a team-high 14 kills and 23 digs in a 25-17, 16-25, 25-9, 25-22 victory over Sutherlin on Thursday.

Brynn Zeigler, South Eugene soccer

The senior notched the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win over North Eugene on Tuesday.

Ruby Jackson, Pleasant Hill volleyball

The senior had nine kills in a 25-20, 25-19 victory Marshfield in the final to claim the Cascade Christian Invitational title on Aug. 31.

Rylee Madison, North Eugene soccer

The junior scored a goal in a 3-2 loss to South Eugene.
