    A Thurston football player is winner of the Eugene-area boys Athlete of the Week

    Thurston's Kyle Miller is The Register-Guard's high school boys Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers of The Register-Guard.

    A senior wide receiver and defensive back who filled in at quarterback for an injured teammate, Miller passed for 198 yards and three touchdowns last Friday in a 39-7 home win over Springfield.

    Miller received 43.1% of the reader poll votes, edging second-place Willamette's Rodolfo Arroyo Segoviano Jr. (42.24%).

    The senior scored his team's lone goal in a 4-1 loss to South Medford.

    The senior caught two touchdown passes in a 39-7 win over Springfield.

    The junior rushed for a touchdown in Springfield's 39-7 loss to Thurston.

    Jack Williams, Sheldon soccer

    The senior scored the Irish's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to South Eugene.
