The Eugene-area high school sports scene is nearing its final weeks of league play before playoffs.

This week's Register-Guard boys Athlete of the Week nominees are:

• Lucas Gansen, Churchill football
• Armando Legorreta, Cottage Grove soccer
• Aiden Pierce, North Eugene soccer
• Ceville Pasi, Churchill football
• Tucker Darland, Sheldon soccer
• Joey Lacey, South Eugene soccer

Information about each nominee is listed below. Vote for the athlete you think is most deserving at RegisterGuard.com/sports. The poll closes at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Lucas Gansen, Churchill football

The junior threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Kingsli Roberts to open the third quarter Oct. 18 and eventually seal the 42-21 win over Willamette.

Armando Legorreta, Cottage Grove soccer

The senior scored a hat trick with three goals Oct. 17 in a 3-0 win over Marist Catholic.

Aiden Pierce, North Eugene soccer

The junior netted a goal Oct. 16 in a 3-1 win over Thurston.

Ceville Pasi, Churchill football

The senior rushed for four touchdowns and a two-point conversion Oct. 18 to lead the Lancers to a 42-21 win over Willamette.

Tucker Darland, Sheldon soccer

The senior has scored four goals combined in three of the Irish's last four games against Willamette, Grants Pass and South Medford.

Joey Lacey, South Eugene soccer

The junior goalkeeper made a crucial save Oct. 15 to earn the shutout 4-0 victory over Sheldon.
