Canton's House of Loreto nursing facility is up for sale. Find out the asking price

CANTON − A longtime Catholic-run care institution is for sale.

The House of Loreto, a private nursing and palliative-care facility owned and operated by the Sisters of the Congregation of the Divine Spirit, is on the market for an asking price of $2,450,000 , according to a real estate listing.

"Sale includes real estate, business, equipment and fixtures," according to the listing.

The facility at 2812 Harvard Ave. NW will remain open and the nuns will continue to offer patient care, according to a facility spokesman who declined to offer further comment.

House of Loreto, built in 1963, features a 35,000-square-foot facility on more than eight acres. It is licensed for 50 patient beds and has capacity for 78 residents. It also features a chapel, beauty salon and laundry.

The property was a bequest to the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown by the late William I. Zink, who wanted it to be used as a home for senior citizens.

In 2022, a Nursing Home Family Satisfaction Survey named House of Loreto the No. 2 facility in Ohio. It has consistently ranked in the top 25 in previous surveys.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the House of Loreto was one of only a handful of nursing-care locations that reported zero cases .

The House of Loreto took its name from the Shrine of Our Lady of Loreto in Italy, said to be the transplanted home of Mary and Joseph and Jesus.
