    1. Hall of Fame Ribs Burnoff

Many Stark County residents have bemoaned the loss of the former Ribs Burnoff during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival.

But it's returning ... sort of.

The new Hall of Fame Ribs Burnoff will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the grounds of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Six barbecue vendors will compete: Armadillo's BBQ of Illnois; Cowboys Barbecue & Rib Co. of Texas; and Off the Bone BBQ of Columbus. Northeast Ohio also will be represented, with Old Carolina BBQ Co., Uncle Bacon's BBQ and Winking Lizard Tavern competing.

Other concessions and food also will be available, and beer can be purchased.

Admission is free. Live music will feature Trailer Park Ninjas 5-7 p.m. and Disco Inferno 8-10 p.m. on Friday; Buck Naked Band 5-7 p.m. and E5C4P3 (Journey tribute band) 8-10 p.m. Saturday; and New Wave Nation ('80s tribute band) 7-9:15 p.m. Sunday.

A fireworks show, presented by Kingsford, is scheduled to follow New Wave Nation's performance. For more information, go to https://www.profootballhof.com/events/2024/05/hall-of-fame-ribs-burnoff/.

    2. Memorial Day Weekend Flea Market in Hartville

Memorial Day weekend means a massive flea market in Hartville.

The annual Memorial Day Flea Market will be Saturday and Monday at Hartville MarketPlace, 1289 Edison St. NW. The event is closed Sunday. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Around a thousand vendors will sell their goods, including antiques, collectibles, vinyl records, toys, tools, crafts and other items. The flea market is spread over 12 acres.

Due to traffic congestion, Hartville MarketPlace recommends using the back entrance to the flea market with access off Market Street. The suggested route from the north is taking Waterloo Road to Mishler Road. Mishler turns into Market. Or motorists can take Route 43 before turning right on Andrews and left on Market.

    3. 'Beauty and the Beast' at the Players Guild

Players Guild Theatre will present the final weekend of the "Beauty and the Beast" musical on the campus of Kent State University at Stark in Jackson Township.

    Friday and Saturday's shows are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday's show is 2 p.m.

Performances are at The Mary J. Timken Theatre in the Fine Arts Building, 6000 Frank Ave. NW. Tickets, $25 to $45, can be purchased at https://playersguildtheatre.com/ or by calling the box office at 330-244-3224.

    4. The Shootouts in concert in Hartville

Tickets cost $30 to $40 and can be purchased at https://hartvillekitchen.com/events/. A meal costs $22.50. The restaurant can be reached at 330-877-9353.

    5. Blues artist Shaun Booker in Minerva

International blues artist Shaun Booker and the Dammit Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Roxy Theater in downtown Minerva.

The Ohio native's career began in the late '90s. Albums include “Shaun Booker Live in Marietta at The Lafayette Hotel,” “Blue Plate Special" and “Angry Blues."
