    Euclid man indicted on attempted murder charge in Canton shooting

    CANTON ‒ A 37-year-old Euclid man has been indicted by a Stark County grand jury on a charge of attempted murder and other offenses in connection with a March 2 shooting in the city's northwest section.

    Byron T. Norris is also charged with four counts of felonious assault with repeat violent offender specifications, improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or a school safety zone, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, having weapons while under disability and domestic violence.

    Charges filed in Canton Municipal Court by Canton police accuse Norris of grabbing his daughter by the arm and attempting to take her in his vehicle. She got away and ran to a residence to call police. Norris is accused of getting a gun from a vehicle and firing at three other victims before fleeing on Fulton Road NW.

    He is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 30 in Stark County Common Pleas Court.
