    Rap, hip-hop concert featuring T.I. and Ying Yang Twins canceled for Canton Civic Center

    CANTON − A hip-hop concert featuring the Ying Yang Twins and T.I. has been canceled for the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

    Scheduled for Aug. 30 to coincide with the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic weekend, the venue announced Wednesday that the rap concert had been canceled "due to unforeseen circumstances."

    The event had been promoted as the 2024 Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic Kickoff Concert . Headliner T.I. and the Ying Yang Twins were to be joined at the Aug. 30 show by Lloyd and P$C, also known as PSC and Pimp Squad Click.

    Virginia State will face Benedict College at 4 p.m. Sept. 1 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic. The game is part of a weekend of events. The Black College Football Hall of Fame is at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.

    Grammy-winning and nationally syndicated radio host Erica Campbell will headline the 2024 Faith, Family & Football Gospel Concert on Aug. 31.  Campbell’s performance is part of the HBCU Family Block Party, which starts at 11 a.m. on Aug. 31 at Centennial Plaza in Downtown Canton. The concert is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

    The Black Promoters Collective had promoted the Civic Center concert online as recent as five days ago.

    The Black Promoters Collective (BPC) is a coalition of six of the nation's independent concert promotion and event production companies.

    How do you get your money back for tickets purchased?

    All tickets for the Civic Center concert will be refunded to the original method of payment, the Civic Center said in a post on Facebook. Purchasers who bought tickets through Ticketmaster.com will receive an email from Ticketmaster regarding their refund.

    A Ticketmaster link to the Canton concert says that "unfortunately, the event organizer has had to cancel your event."

    Those who purchased tickets directly from the venue box office should return the tickets to the original place of purchase for a refund, the Civic Center said.

    Ticketmaster says it will issue a refund to the original method of payment , as soon as funds are received from the event organizer. Refunds should appear on purchaser accounts within 14 to 21 days, Ticketmaster posted online.

    If tickets were transferred to you, the refund will go to the person who originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster.

    If you transferred or gifted your tickets to another person, the venue asks them to inform the recipient of the cancellation. For more information, the Civic Center Box Office, 1101 Market Ave. N in downtown Canton, can be reached at 330-489-3090.
