CANTON − Papa Roach, a rock band that scored hit songs in the aughts, will perform a free two-man acoustic concert Monday at The Auricle.

Presented by Mix 94.1 FM in Canton, the unique show will be at the venue at 201 Cleveland Ave. NW in downtown Canton. Admission is free until The Auricle Venue + Bar reaches capacity. Doors open one hour before the 6 p.m. show.

The radio station is calling the concert "Stripped Down with Jacoby and Jerry from Papa Roach ." Jacoby Shaddix is the band's vocalist and Jerry Horton is the guitarist.

The alt-metal band's biggest mainstream music moment was when it charted with "Last Resort" in 2000 during the Nu Metal movement, which included commercially successful bands like Limp Bizkit, Korn and others. The YouTube video for "Last Resort" has garnered 247 million views.

The song features rap rock while some of the band's other material veers into pop rock with more traditional vocals. Other popular Papa Roach songs include "Scars," "Getting Away with Murder," "Forever," "Kill the Noise," "Lifeline" and "She Loves Me Not." The 2022 release, " Cut The Line " reached No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in 2023.

Papa Roach collaborates with Carrie Underwood for a good cause

Mix 94.1, meanwhile, has regularly played Papa Roach's song, "Leave a Light On," a track dedicated to Chester Bennington, late lead singer of the band Linkin Park, the radio station said. Bennington took his own life in 2017.

"The song has resonated with persons struggling with depression and those who have lost loved ones to suicide," said Joel Murphy, program director for Mix 94.1 and WHBC-FM, part of Alpha Media .

"We've invited our friends at Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery , a great local organization that has had such a positive impact on helping others," added Murphy, who is also the radio personality "Java Joel"

"The show is free, all-ages, and all are welcome until we hit capacity," he said.

The response "so far has been great and people seem really excited to see the guys," Murphy added. "They'll do some songs and take part in a short (question-and-answer session) with our morning host, Matt Fantone ."

There will be a short meet-and-greet after the show for radio contest winners. Those wishing to get in for the meet and greet can sign up at Mix941.com . The show is sponsored by The Music Farm and Orkin.

New version of 'Leave a Light On' climbs charts

"Leave a Light On" was originally released in 2022 and became associated with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention .

A new version of the hit song is a collaboration between Papa Roach and country music star Carrie Underwood. The song debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Rock Digital Song Sales Chart and the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart.

"Leave a Light On (Talk Away The Dark)" aims to raise further awareness of suicide prevention and for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the United States and Canada, Rolling Stone magazine reported.

A press release said the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will receive royalties generated from both artists from the song in perpetuity, the publication said.

Underwood, whose likeness for rock music is well known, commented on the partnership in a statement.

“It’s a beautiful song and the message behind it and the band’s mission to shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health awareness has never been more important," she said.
