PERRY TWP. – An 11-year-old boy was injured Sunday after he rode his bicycle through a stop sign and was struck by an oncoming vehicle at the intersection of 14th Street SW and Brooklyn Avenue SW, township police said.

The boy, who was not identified in a news release, suffered a leg injury and was taken by the Perry Township Fire Department to Aultman Hospital in Canton.

The extent of his injuries were being assessed, police said. The news release didn't state the time of the accident.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

"We urge all residents, especially young cyclists, to exercise caution when approaching intersections and to always obey traffic signs and signals," police said. "... Our thoughts are with the child and their family during this time."
