ALLIANCE − Jordan Miller, a popular local news reporter, is returning to the radio Stark County scene with a new gig at FM station Q92 .

Miller and Q92 (WDJQ) made the announcement Friday, which comes just more than a month after he was laid off at WHBC 1480 in Canton, where he had hosted a "Live and Local" talk show, featuring interviews, discussions and opinions on local and national news.

Miller will start Monday working in the newsroom of Q92, which plays current hit songs and other pop music.

"Q92 is thrilled to announce the addition of veteran journalist, Jordan Miller," the radio station said in an announcement posted online. "This exciting development marks a significant enhancement to Q92's commitment to delivering high-quality, community-focused content, especially during the morning rush hour for its listeners as they head out the door each day.

"With an impressive career spanning over TV, print, digital and radio media, Miller has earned a reputation for insightful reporting and compelling storytelling," the radio station said in the prepared statement. "Miller's extensive experience and deep understanding of local issues align perfectly with Q92 WDJQ's mission to provide relevant and engaging news and entertainment for listeners."

Jordan Miller had hosted WHBC talk show

Miller's last day working at News-Talk 1480 WHBC AM was July 18, but he's continued to operate Jordan Miller − News , which has 77,000 followers on Facebook and covers breaking news, sports, community news and events in Carroll, Stark and Tuscarawas counties. Both the radio show and news site have made Miller highly visible in the community.

Miller's departure was due to cost-cutting moves made across the country by Alpha Media, WHBC's parent company.

"It was a really tough decision but something that had to be done due to the financial issues with Alpha Media," Pam Cook, WHBC's content director, had said earlier this summer.

Miller's talk show on WHBC was replaced by The Ramsey Show, a syndicated radio program hosted by financial expert Dave Ramsey .

Although Miller, 28, had been disappointed to leave WHBC, he thanked the station for giving him the opportunity to get started in the radio business.

Miller will work with Christian and Lauren at Q92

"I'm thrilled to finally announce my new radio home," he said on the Jordan Miller − News Facebook page on Friday. "So happy to join an incredible morning show team."

In the radio station's announcement, Miller said he was excited to collaborate with morning radio personalities Christian and Lauren , calling it "an exciting opportunity to engage with local listeners and provide them with the latest news updates that matter most to our community ..."

Don Peterson, general manager at Q92, said the hiring of Miller is a "tremendous milestone for us."

"His expertise and dedication to local news are a perfect fit for our locally owned and family-operated station," he said in the station's announcement.

Miller also has served as editor of three AloNovus Corp. weekly newspapers — the Free Press Standard in Carrollton, The Hartville News in Hartville and the Harrison News-Herald in Harrison County.

He also has gained attention online and in the news because of his young son Xavier's battle with cancer following a diagnosis in December.
