    Music jam, Cricut session at library

    CANAL FULTON – The Canal Fulton Public Library, 154 Market St. NE, will host a drop-in music jam session from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday. Bring your acoustic instruments for an afternoon of bluegrass music. All skill levels are welcome. Registration is not required.

    The library’s Information Department will offer patrons a session between 4 and 7 p.m. Monday to use Cricut Design Space to create custom stickers. Your custom stickers will be ready for pickup in one to two weeks after class. Register for one half-hour time slot only. Call 330-854-4148 or visit canalfultonlibrary.org.

    Tour the Canton Palace Theatre

    CANTON − Learn about the history and architecture of the Canton Palace Theatre with a walking tour Sept. 16, 17 and 18. The tour lasts from 7 to 8 p.m. and is limited to 20 people. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Admission is $10 per person.

    Timken Distinguished Alumni Dinner is Sept. 19

    CANTON − The Timken Alumni Association has selected Kevin Henderson ’74, Steve Mayle ’85, Bethany Small ’89 and Brett Miller ’90 as 2024 Distinguished Alumni.

    GiGi’s Playhouse Canton fundraiser Saturday

    CANTON − GiGi’s Playhouse Canton will hold the fundraiser Putts & Pints for a Purpose from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Centennial Plaza in downtown Canton.

    This event will include mini golf, music, raffles and activities to support of GiGi’s Playhouse, which provides free educational, therapeutic and career development programs to people with Down syndrome and their families.

    Palace to show ‘Phantom of the Opera’ silent film

    CANTON − The Palace Theatre, 605 Market Ave. N, will show the original silent film “Phantom of the Opera” with organ accompaniment by Jay Spencer at the Kilgen organ at 7 p.m. Saturday. Doors open at 6 p.m.

    McKinley Museum fundraising event

    CANTON − The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum will hold its annual Fall Fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 26. This year’s theme is “Timeless Connections: Experience History Through the Street of Shops.” Buy tickets, $45 per person, by Sept. 15 at www.McKinleyMuseum.org or by calling 234-458-2825. All proceeds benefit the museum.

    There will be demonstrations and hands-on activities, live music, costumed characters and a basket raffle. The museum will serve Italian meatballs, miniature sandwiches, sausage and peppers, chicken skewers with pineapple, and veggie lasagna.

    Abortion-loss support group for men to meet

    CANTON − Arrows group, abortion-loss support for men, will meet online at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The online group meets on the second Wednesday of each month. For the link and more information, call or text 330-834-8224. The support group is designed for men and led by men.

    Gospel concert Thursday at Hartville Kitchen

    Bee Gees tribute Saturday

    Car exhibit Saturday is fundraiser for Roxy Theatre

    MINERVA – The Cars are The Stars: A Matinee at The Roxy, a fundraiser automobile exhibition for the Roxy Theatre, will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday on North Market Street. The event will begin with a procession of dozens of unique automobiles into town at noon for the exhibition.

    About half of the cars will be related to the film “Cannonball Run,” and the other half will be rare and historically significant. There also is room for about 150 vehicles in the Collector Car Corral, just adjacent to the main display. There will be live music and food trucks.     Navarre Bethlehem Township Historical Society to meet

    NAVARRE – The Navarre Bethlehem Township Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the education building behind the Mathews Museum.

    The annual car show will be Sept. 29 at the corner of Main Street (state Route 21) and Center Street, across from Nickles Bakery. There will be trophies, music and food.

    The group’s calendar will be for sale at the beginning of November. Preorder by calling 330-879-5938 and leaving your name and phone number. The calendar also will be for sale at a few local businesses.

    Art exhibit opens Thursday at library gallery

    NORTH CANTON − The Little Art Gallery of the North Canton Public Library will host the Massillon Museum traveling exhibition "Imagining a Better World: The Artwork of Nelly Toll" from Thursday through Nov. 3. An opening reception and gallery talk featuring Massillon Museum Executive Director Alexandra Nicholis Coon will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

    The exhibit features digital reproductions of the wartime artwork of Toll, a childhood survivor of the Holocaust, and is organized by the Massillon Museum with support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

    Stark Parks sets programs

    Stark Parks has planned a variety of programs and activities for this week. Visit StarkParks.com for class information and registration for all events and programs.

    • Navigating the Night Sky, 8:30 to 10 p.m. Friday at Quail Hollow Park, 13480 Congress Lake Ave. NE, Lake Township: Learn about stars, planets, constellations, nebulae, and galaxies with The Wilderness Center Astronomy Club. Practice using telescopes, learn how to navigate the stars, and where to look during different seasons. Feel free to bring your own equipment (telescopes, binoculars, cameras, etc.). Registration is required. The program will be canceled if the sky is cloudy, or the forecast calls for inclement weather.
    • Bob Meister Special Needs Derby, 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sippo Lake marina, 5328-5398 Tyner St. NW, Perry Township: The Bob Meister Fishing Derby is exclusively for people with special needs. Walkways, parking lots, the fishing pier and shoreline of the lake are accessible. Following the derby, prizes will be awarded, and lunch will be provided. Advance registration is required. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. This event is sponsored by Stark Parks and the Berkley Fishing Team.
    • Second annual Stark County Bird Quest, Friday and Saturday: This free, family-friendly 24-hour challenge encourages people to get outdoors and help with gathering data about bird populations in Stark County. For more information, resources, and how to register your team, go to cantonaudubon.org/stark-county-bird-quest.
    • Pike Ridge Park hiking excursion, 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday: Enjoy a glimpse of Stark Parks’ newest addition to the district, Pike Ridge Park, which is near the Intersection of Cleveland Avenue (state Route 800) and East Sparta Avenue, Pike Township. This guided hike will cover about 2.5 miles of countryside, showcasing rolling terrain, ponds, and elevated views of open grasslands. The park is not currently open to the public and is accessible only through guided tours. More detailed location information will be sent after you register. Another Pike Ridge Park hiking excursion is planned for 3:30 p.m. Oct. 11.
