Stark County students get look inside area companies for Manufacturing Month

MASSILLON – Hundreds of Stark County students got a firsthand look on Thursday at manufacturing businesses across the region.

In recognition of Manufacturing Month, the Stark County Manufacturing Workforce Development Partnership teamed up with Stark State College and more than a dozen manufacturers to show students the possible career paths and opportunities available in manufacturing.

According to the Stark County Manufacturing Workforce Development Partnership, there are more than 550 manufacturing businesses in Stark County that employ more than 26,000 people. The median salary in Northeast Ohio manufacturing is $41,412.

More than 300 students from the Alliance, Canton City, Fairless, Jackson, Louisville, North Canton, Perry, Plain, Sandy Valley and Tuslaw school districts toured the facilities. Representatives of Stark State also discussed educational and career opportunities available to students.

The businesses that welcomed students were Ohio Gratings Inc., Canton Drop Forge, RW Screw, Stark Industrial, MAC Trailer, The M.K. Morse Co., Hendrickson, Lindsay Precast, Knight Material Technologies, Winkle Industries Inc., Gregory Industries and GBS.
