    ERFD, Rockingham Lions Club selling barbecue

    ROCKINGHAM — Two local groups are hosting upcoming barbecue plate fundraisers.

    The East Rockingham Fire Department will be selling plates of barbecue or chicken from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 at the station on Airport Road

    Plates — for dine-in or carry-out— also include baked beans, coleslaw and hushpuppies, and orders of five or more will be eligible for delivery.

    After 2 p.m., barbecue will be sold by the pound only.

    Next week, on Thursday, Oct. 10, the Rockingham Lions Club will be selling barbecue plates from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the clubhouse on U.S. 220 in Rockingham.

    Plates also include baked beans, slaw, a roll and a brownie. Containers of 1 pound will be available for pickup from 5-6:30 p.m.

    The Lions Club uses its funds to pay for eye exams and glasses for those who can’t afford them.
