OBITUARY: Barbara McDuffie Mabe

Barbara McDuffie Mabe, 70, of Hamlet, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond.

She was born June 2, 1954, in Sanford, daughter of the late James Everett McDuffie and Geneva Gee McDuffie.

Barbara was a wonderful lady with a kind heart. She liked to travel and especially loved to garden, work in her yard, and plant flowers. She could take any flower or plant and revive it. In prior years, Barbara also loved fishing. She dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and will be missed by her family and all that loved her.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, James Everett McDuffie Jr. and Sonny Kennedy; and sister, Mary Baldwin.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert Eugene Mabe of the home; daughter, Apprile Mabe of Shallotte; son, Robbie Mabe (Christy) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Jordyn Mabe and Cameron Mabe; and sisters, Sue Hinson of Hamlet and Brenda Byrd (Jerry) of High Point.

Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 7, 2024 from 4-6 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.

The funeral service will immediately follow visitation, beginning at 6 p.m., in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home, with Marvin Blake officiating.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the family home.
