ROCKINGHAM — A heavy dose of offense was what the Richmond Senior High School football team ordered Friday.

Returning to Raider Stadium for the first time in three weeks, the Raiders and head coach Brad Deson blew out Hoke County High School 44-20.

Richmond led 28-12 at halftime and started its scoring with a nine-yard rush by senior running back Javion Smith.

The next three scores were all courtesy of junior Jayden Hamilton. He scored a two-yard rush, returned a punt from near midfield and hauled in a 57-yard catch and run from junior quarterback Evan Hodges.

Early in the second half, Richmond recorded a safety in the end zone thanks to juniors Monte Martin and Jermaine Bright.

Junior quarterback Domonic Tillman and Hodges each threw a second-half touchdown pass, finding junior Keonta Pegues (41 yards) and Nicholas Griggs (25 yards), respectively.

The Richmond defense was present throughout the game, shutting down Hoke County (1-6, 0-3 SAC) and its dual-threat quarterback Brandon Saunders.

Switching gears in the fourth quarter, the Raiders rested their starters and played several backup players.

The Raiders (5-2, 3-0 SAC) will host Union Pines High School (5-1, 2-0 SAC) next Friday on homecoming. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
