ROCKINGHAM — Award-winning beach music band Too Much Sylvia took the stage Thursday evening for the August installment of the Plaza Jam summer concert series.

In addition to original songs, like 2019’s “We Ain’t Leavin’ Carolina,” the four-piece band’s set list included beach, R&B, country and classic rock covers.

The song selection also featured medley tributes to Earth, Wind and Fire, the Bee Gees and ZZ Top. For the latter medley, guitarist Steve Long and bassist Eddy Howie donned fake beards as an homage to Billy Gibbons and the late Dusty Hill.

This was Too Much Sylvia’s first Plaza Jam appearance since 2019.

The Tams are scheduled for their 21st consecutive Plaza Jam concert on Sept. 5. The only year they didn’t play was during the 2020 pandemic. The Embers will return to Rockingham to close out the season Oct. 3.
