Virginia’s revenue exceeded its forecast revenue by $1.2 billion for FY2024. This shows that Virginia is on the right track in managing the State. Obviously, Virginia’s budget always ends with surplus at the end of the fiscal year, which means there is money to be used to benefit the Virginians.

It is noteworthy that the major issue that causes stress and depression for families with children is healthcare. One would think that such an important matter for Virginia families would be the main concern for the legislature. America is such a great country and Virginia is one of the most substantial states in the nation so parents and guardians should not be struggling to afford their children’s healthcare.

It is unfortunate that many working families are struggling to afford healthcare for their children. Many families have to slash their expenses from other areas to afford paying for their children’s health care. indeed, some families and parent(s) have to work a second job to earn extra incomes to pay for their children’s healthcare! It is a critical issue for all Virginian families.

The opinion differences among Virginian lawmakers regarding using the surplus in a wise way to help Virginians should end in one point which is Medicaid for all children. The definition of prioritizing children can be in providing Medicaid regardless of the families incomes. Both Democrats and Republicans should not compromise children’s Medicaid.

Obviously, tax cuts, reduction of corporate tax rate, rebate tax by mailing checks to people, or increasing the child tax credits are on some of the legislature’s agenda. But most importantly to realize that the Virginian families main concern is Medicaid for children.

The corporate tax reduction has become a big political agenda item between Democrats and Republicans. Clearly, corporate tax reductions will only benefit the corporation and the high income earners. Average people – who are generally the majority of Virginians – are living on incomes that are not increasing based on the cost of living. To review the market, a person can see that life’s difficulties are trending upward and expenses increasing. While people’s economic status is declining, reversely, corporates profits are increasing.

To be clear, while (Medicaid for all) creates chaos in the healthcare system and causes a decline in the quality of healthcare.  Medicaid for all children can boost the economy and improve the standard of living by lifting a major burden off families with children, and instead, they can invest the money in their children’s education, afford to buy healthier foods, or perhaps even establish some type of investment or a retirement plan.

Using the surplus revenue in children’s Medicaid is the only way that Virginians can benefit from and see its effective result. Virginia children must be on the top of the legislature’s agenda without politicizing the matter. It is undeniable that the American dollar has lost value and will no longer purchase what it once did . What can a person buy with $100 worth of groceries?

In fact, $100 is not enough even to pay for 15 days electricity consumption for a household. Now, The legislature should realize that even a tax rebate or a child tax credit would not help Virginians, especially families. Since the politicians in Washington, DC continue to prioritize America’s allies, including  Ukraine, Israel, Iraq, and other nations over the American people, the hope is that the Virginia legislature will pass legislation allowing Medicaid for all Virginian children.  Such legislation will define Virginia’s lawmakers and clarify where they really stand regarding assisting Virginian families.

It is time for the legislature from both sides of the aisle to draw a plan and invest in a children’s Medicaid program.
