    PHOTO GALLERY: Volunteer hosts middle school meet

    CHURCH HILL — Hawkins County athletes certainly held their own as 13 middle school teams from large and small school classifications gathered in Church Hill for the Volunteer Middle School Invitational track meet on Monday, April 1.

    In the boys’ team standings, Greeneville won with 151 points. John Sevier was second at 81. RCS finished third (46), Church Hill fourth (41) and RMS tied for sixth (31).

    In the girls’ team standings, John Sevier won with 113 points. Sullivan Central was second at 79.5. RCS was third (79), just a half point back. Surgoinsville finished sixth (28), RMS seventh (20) and Church Hill tenth (15).

    Here’s a look at top five performances by Hawkins County athletes.

    CHMS BOYS

    Bryson Christian won the 100 with a time of 11.91 and the 200 with a time of 24.14.Jasen Arnold won the 400 with a time of 59.55.Conner Begley finished fourth in the 400 (1:01.49).The CHMS 4x100 relay finished fifth (53.74).

    CHMS GIRLS

    Kylee Capson finished second in long jump (14-09).Willow Ingram finished fifth in the 200 (30.26).

    RCS BOYS

    The RCS relay team of Evan Laster, Brayden Brown, Chance Pearson and Zander Harris won the 4x400 with a time of 4:19.16.Brayden Brown finished second in the 400 (1:00.12) and fourth in the 1600 (5:36.49).Evan Laster finished third in the 110 hurdles (18.65).Zander Harris finished fourth in the 800 (2:31.66).Aaron Munsey-Cooke finished fourth in shot put (37-07.50).

    RCS GIRLS

    Emma Stipes won the discus with a throw of 74 feet and won shot put with a throw of 33-8.Kenady Deal won the 400 with a time of 1:09.12 and finished fourth in the 1600 (6:20.45).The RCS relay team of Rylee Sivert, Anna Mae Boyd, Lilla Harrell and Kenady Deal won the 4x400 with a time of 4:46.01.Anna Mae Boyd finished second in the 400 (1:09.55).The relay team of Riley Newman, Harlan Hayes, Karlie Gray and Madison Mullins finished second in the 4x200 (2:09.04).Rylee Sivert finished third in the 200 (29.76).Harlan Hayes finished fourth in the 400 (1:12.35).Lilla Harrell finished fourth in the 800 (2:46.33).

    RMS BOYS

    William Ely finished fourth in the 110 hurdles (19.21).The RMS 4x100 relay finished fourth (53.64).The RMS 4x200 relay finished fifth (1:55.65).Riley Elkins finished second in shot put (38-07.25) and fifth in discus (103-09).Travis Wade finished fifth in the 1600 (5:46.19).

    RMS GIRLS

    Jessabella Allen finished fifth in the 800 (2:53.59) and fifth in the 1600 (6:22.67).The RMS 4x100 relay finished fifth (1:01.12).The RMS 4x400 relay finished fifth (5:02.51).Ragan Seal finished fifth in long jump (12-11).

    SMS GIRLS

    Chloe Fritts finished second in the 100 (13.66) and second in the 200 (29.23).Sawyer Clonce finished second in discus (68-07).The SMS relay team finished fifth in the 4x200 (2:15:73).
