ROGERSVILLE — The RCS Lady Warriors and Ridgeview Lady Raptors each came away with a win in Thursday’s doubleheader in Rogersville to remain tied atop the league standings as the regular season nears its end.

Bailey Bledsoe pitched both games for the Lady Warriors.

RCS coach Melissa Boyd said, “I thought we played two great games. Bailey pitched two awesome games. They started hitting a little bit toward the end, and that has to be expected. The reason they won the second game was that they hit, and we didn’t.”

    Game 1

    RCS 4, Ridgeview 3

Two walks and a single by Lilly Hilton were enough to give the Lady Raptors a 1-0 lead after the first inning. Both teams went 3-up and 3-down in the second inning.

In the bottom of the third, Bailey Bledsoe reached on an error, Addy Arnwine singled and Anna Mae Boyd walked to load the bases. All three scored when Rylee Sivert belted a double. Sivert then scored when Shailynn Scalf singled with two outs to give the Lady Warriors the 4-1 lead.

There was no scoring in the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth, the Lady Raptors hit two singles and a double to score two runs. But Bledsoe got a fly out to Holmes to end the threat and the game. The Lady Warriors came away with the 4-3 victory.

Bledsoe gave up three runs on five hits, walked two and struck out seven.

    Game 2

    Ridgeview 7, RCS 2

The Lady Warriors got off to a good start in the second game. Caroline Hicks walked, Boyd was hit by a pitch and Sivert reached on an error to load the bases with one out. Ridgeview’s Jayden Jenkins got a strikeout before Ainsley Price drew a walk to score Hicks. One out later, the Lady Warriors — the visitors on the scoreboard in the second game — had left the bases loaded in the top of the first.

The Lady Raptors took advantage of an error and hit two doubles, resulting in a run to tie the score at 1-1 after one.

The Lady Warriors went 3-up and 3-down in the second and third innings, while Ridgeview kept chipping away. The Lady Raptors added two runs in the second and exploded for four more in the third.

Ridgeview outhit RCS 7-1 in the game. Jenkins picked up the win, allowing two unearned runs on one hit with four walks and 10 strikeouts. Bledsoe, who had RCS’ only hit, took the loss. She pitched four innings, giving up seven runs (two earned) on seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts. The Lady Warriors committed three errors.

This is the final week of the regular season. If they both win out, Ridgeview and RCS would be co-champions. The area tournament is set to start Saturday (April 27) with seedings to be determined after this week’s games.
