    Middle school roundup: Providence ends RMS' season

    JOHNSON CITY — Providence handed Rogersville Middle School a 4-1 loss in the opening round of postseason play on Monday to end the Warriors’ soccer season.

    Alexis Lozano had the lone goal for RMS.

    The Warriors finished the year with a 7-3 record to cap one of the school’s most successful seasons. Eighth grader Jackson Spiller set a school record for goals in a single season with 16.

    Bulls Gap physicals will be May 6

    BULLS GAP — Physicals for Bulls Gap Middle School athletes will be held during school on Monday, May 6, at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $10. Student-athletes should see Coach Chris Hughes or stop by the office to pick up a packet.

    RMS physicals will be May 7

    ROGERSVILLE — Physicals for RMS athletes will be held during school Tuesday, May 7, at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $10. Student-athletes should see Coach Matt Seals to pick up a packet.

    SMS Booster Club plans bounce day

    SURGOINSVILLE — The SMS Booster Club will host a bounce day at Riverfront Park in Surgoinsville on Saturday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The cost is $10 per child to bounce all day. Concessions will be available.

    CHMS volleyball tryouts set for May 24

    CHURCH HILL — Varsity and junior varsity volleyball tryouts for rising sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade girls at Church Hill Intermediate and Middle schools will be held May 24 from 2-4 p.m. in the CHMS gym. To learn more, email Coach Emma Bice at emma.bice@hck12.net.

    Beginning May 7, there’ll be open gym every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15-5 p.m. and conditioning every Wednesday from 3:15-4 p.m. These are not mandatory, but girls are encouraged to attend.

    CHMS soccer tryouts set for May 28-30

    CHURCH HILL — Girls soccer tryouts for the Church Hill Middle School team, which includes players from Surgoinsville Middle School, will be held May 28-30 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. each day at the CHMS football field.

    The tryouts are open the upcoming sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade girls from both CHMS and SMS.

    Athletes must have an updated physical on file to participate. Paperwork will be reviewed on May 28. Must have cleats, shin guards and a bottle of water for physical tryouts on May 29-30.
