    Volunteer Speedway ushers in 50th anniversary season

    BULLS GAP — Volunteer Speedway ushered in its 50th anniversary season with the first local racing program of the year on Saturday with the postponed “May the Fourth Be With You” event.

    Travis Fultz won the 25-lap Sportsman Late Model race, ahead of Tim Maupin, Warren McMahan, Mason Bare and Conner Pate in the top five.

    Donovan Long won the 20-lap Street Stock event, with Bobbie Petty, Austin Atkins, Vic Chandler and Josh Chesney in the top five.

    Dylan Jones won the 20-lap Front Wheel Drive feature, with Ray Wyatt, Rogersville’s Brandon Crawford, Cody Bean and Jackson Crawford in the top five.

    Jason Ketron won the 30-lap Enduro/Crown vic feature, with Ray Hawk, John Duncan, Alex Vance and Coby Scott rounding out the top five.

    Volunteer Speedway will host a $50,000-to-win, 50-lap Super Late Model main event on Saturday, June 29, to celebrate 50 years of racing. The anniversary celebration will include three days of racing action.
