While he’s a legendary actor in Hollywood today, some people may not know — or forget — that director, actor Clint Eastwood was also the mayor of a small seaside town in Northern California in the mid to late 1980s.

And now, the home where he lived while performing his mayoral duties has landed on the real estate market for $21 million.

Named Las Ondas, the home rests in Carmel-by-the-Sea and was sold by Eastwood to the estate’s current owner, Frederick M. O’Such, in 1996, a news release says.

“Built in 1924, the century-old three-story Spanish Revival home was rebuilt by the current owner in 1998,” the release says.

“It has nearly 4,500 interior square feet with four bedrooms, four full bathrooms and one half-bathroom. The private, gated property is located one street from Carmel Beach on a large 11,000 square-foot lot with a two-car garage.”

The residence brought happy memories to those who have lived in it, especially O’Such.

“My family has loved living and entertaining at this iconic property for nearly three decades,” O’Such said in the release.

“Right after we purchased the home, we rebuilt the interior spaces, adding in an Arts and Crafts style by installing Mahogany wood finishes, Cherry wood floors, and other elements that were interesting to me. It is time for the next owner to enjoy this historic home and share it with their friends and family for years to come.”

    Features, per the release, include:

    • High ceilings

    • Gas fireplaces

    • Primary private balcony

    • Decks

    • Ocean views

    • Interior courtyard

The listing is held by Tim Allen of Tim Allen Properties Team, an affiliated agent with the Carmel-by-the-Sea / Junipero office of Coldwell Banker Realty in Northern California. The property is also listed with the Coldwell Banker Global Luxury program.
