A 69-year-old man was arrested after he was accused of killing his “long-term” girlfriend, California police say.

West Valley Area patrol officers responded to a call about “ an assault with a deadly weapon ” shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release.

When they arrived, officers found a woman with “blunt force trauma” to her upper body, police said.

Officers identified the woman’s boyfriend, William Anthony Tillman, as a suspect and detained him on scene, according to police.
