This home was destroyed by a falling tree in CA. Now, the crushed estate is for sale

Back in May, a couple tenants received a scare after a massive tree crashed into a California home. Luckily, no one was hurt.

And now, the estate — or rather the plot of land with half a house — has landed on the real estate market in Monrovia for $499,999.

At the time of the event, the home’s renter, Shelly, was inside the home and told KTLA that the tree hitting the roof “sounded like a bomb had exploded” at the moment of impact. The news station showed the destruction of the house, along with a van that was parked in the driveway.

While the estate still carries the scars of the incident, a new owner can step in and either scrap it all or fix up the home.

“Miracle on Mountain,” the listing on Realtor.com says. “A flat and abated lot / partial structure ready for new construction or rebuild. Did you see on TV the home destroyed by an old stone pine? Perhaps miraculously, no one was hurt. But the house was 100 years old and red tagged.”

Listing agent Kevin Wheeler with Century 21 told the Los Angeles Times that while the home is missing, well, almost everything including the ceilings and walls, it could be seen as an “open-concept floor plan.”

“There’s been a lot of interest so far because demand is so high and inventory, especially at this price, is so low,” Wheeler told the Times.

Monrovia is about a 25-mile drive northeast from Los Angeles, so the price tag is attractive, especially considering houses under half a million in Southern California are few and far between. According to the Los Angeles Times , the average home price is $875,409 in the six-county region.
